UCSF Department of Emergency Medicine – First in the Nation to be Designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Emergency and Trauma Care

Dr. Maria Raven (top), Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, and Dr. Hemal Kanzaria (bottom), Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, received pay-for-performance grants from the San Francisco Health Plan to implement the ED information exchange (PreManage ED) at San Francisco-based hospitals and to promote data transparency on hospital diversion.

Dr. Jahan Fahimi, Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine, has been selected to serve as the Value Improvement Director for UCSF Health. His key new responsibilities include: (1) Developing and implementing a value measurement framework to capture and report on the impact of improvement work across UCSF Health; (2) Providing leadership and support to Unit-Based Leadership Teams during the Value Improvement Cycle; and (3) Working closely with Decision Support Services and the Finance Office, and participating/serving on key UCSF Health Finance and Budget committees.
